Halloween is Done, the Night Was Fun, Now the Real Decorating Has Begun!!!

For many of you out there who are as obsessed with decorating as myself, the real witching hour is here. Yes, that bittersweet love affair with decorating has commenced. I absolutely adore the moment that my husband begins unloading all the Christmas bins from the attic. I truly get giddy with excitement opening each bin to find what treasure lay inside, masterfully wrapped in tissue paper. Unwrapping it brings a whole new level of happiness as I unearth what I had purchased the year before, but had forgotten about. Even the smells that emanate from all my Christmas decorations is absolutely delightful. With this being said, I also dread this moment. The very sight of the garage teeming with over 70 Christmas bins is just a bit overwhelming. My first reflection of appreciation always comes right after my husband has descended safely from the attic. Yes, the perils of balancing on the rafters in the dimly lit attic always sends fear up my spine. There is always at least one mishap, thus far, they have all been relatively benign injuries. Thank goodness, what would I do with out my number one elf??  So today is the day I embark upon my decorating marathon. This will easily be a three week endeavor. Due to my YouTube passion, I am always trying to reinvent my design from the year prior. I am a firm believer that by rearranging decorations from year to year, you breathe new life and anticipation into the holiday season. I am validated on this point by my children’s reaction to the new vignettes that they come home to each day. They love how moving a holiday favorite to a new location actually makes it feel like a brand new decoration. This is all fine and grand, but the reality is that this creates a copious amount of work for the designer/decorator. So I guess I must be a glutton for punishment, because as I stated earlier, I really get so excited to decorate each and every year. So I am off to begin my decorating journey, please join me as I share new ideas, finds and holiday vision with all of you who dare to share in this decorating extravaganza!!!
